Yesterday, after reading Mia Blume‘s Designing with AI newsletter about Pentagram’s use of AI for Performance.gov (https://substack.com/home/post/p-152617097 – Can we talk about Substack’s layout being totally broken on Safari…?), I read/watched Pentagram’s case study. As Mia discussed, what a great application of design craft to AI!
I’m in the small, but growing, minority of creatives who view AI as a tool to augment—not replace—their creativity. It’s “simply” a matter of taking the time to learn and understand the tool and then applying it to your personal practice. What works for you won’t necessarily work for others. That’s what makes being human and creative such a wonderful and exciting, yet frustratingly challenging thing. (What I mean by “creative” isn’t what everyone assumes it means. I’ll write about that next.)
